Our aim is to preserve and grow our investors’ capital over the long term
Troy Asset Management is a privately owned, independent investment boutique.
The company was established in 2000 by the late Lord Weinstock and Sebastian Lyon and was named after his 1979 Epsom Derby winner. They wanted to serve investors who shared the objective of seeking long-term absolute returns, whilst ignoring the distraction of short-term market noise and benchmarks.
Over the years we have attracted other investors who share this patient attitude to investment management. These include family offices, wealth managers, investment advisers, charities and endowments.
All our executive directors and fund managers are significant shareholders in Troy Asset Management and our Funds.

Investment philosophy
Since its foundation Troy has specialised in a distinctive method of investing. We prioritise the avoidance of permanent capital losses. This is achieved through cautious asset allocation and the careful selection of high-quality companies.
How we investRisk management
We consider risk management to be the avoidance of permanent capital loss.
Long-term horizon
We invest for the long term.
Stock selection
We only invest in those companies that we believe have enduring qualities. These characteristics help allow an investment to compound in value over the long term.
Valuation
The valuation at which assets are bought plays a crucial role in determining their subsequent returns.
Our culture
Troy’s purpose is to preserve, grow and be a responsible steward of our investors’ irreplaceable capital over the long term.
We endeavour to act responsibly at all times and expect the same of the companies in which we invest. These guiding principles are core to Troy’s investment approach and extend to how we work with our investors, employees, shareholders and wider stakeholders.
Our unique heritage has defined key aspects of our culture, and our independence has served to retain these points of differentiation and advantage as the firm has grown. Troy’s culture is one of intellectual honesty, curiosity and independent thinking.
We promote a collegiate and collaborative workplace and aim continuously to improve the service we provide our investors. The views of each team member are respected and considered equally worthy; new ideas are freely promoted and working assumptions are openly challenged.
